„Die Kommunen, besonders im Ruhrgebiet, waren vor der Corona-Krise bereits durch die ungelöste Altschulden-Problematik enorm belastet. Die Kosten und Mindereinahmen, insbesondere durch die Gewerbesteuern, im Zusammenhang mit der Corona-Krise werden die Kommunen in einem erheblichen Maß belastet“, so Kai Hemsteeg Vorsitzender der EBB-FW-Ratsfraktion.
Damit die Kommunen auch nach der Krise weiterhin Investitionen tätigen können und den Bürgern freiwillige Leistungen anbieten können, ist eine finanzielle Hilfe des Bundes unabdingbar.
„Unser Ziel ist es das hohe Niveau der freiwilligen Leistungen durch die Stadt Essen, beispielsweise in den Bereichen Kultur und Sport, auch nach der Corona-Krise noch anbieten zu können. Wir appellieren daher an die Entscheidungsträger in Land und Bund hier zeitnah entsprechende Mittel bereitzustellen“ fordert Kai Hemsteeg.
